Rotation Stretch to the Left
Instructions: Place the towel around your neck, and grab each end with the opposite hand (right-hand grabs the left end and left grabs the right). Position the towel so that the edge is resting on an area of stiffness.
Now, grip the ends of the towel firmly. Turn your head to the left. At the same time, pull the end of the towel with your left hand, forward and slightly upward. Hold this position for a few seconds, feeling a gentle stretch.
Return to the center and repeat 5-10 times, then switch to the other side.
Rotation Stretch to the Right
Instructions: Place the towel around your neck, and grab each end with the opposite hand (right-hand grabs the left end and left grabs the right). Position the towel so that the edge is resting on an area of stiffness.
Now, grip the ends of the towel firmly. Turn your head to the right. At the same time, pull the end of the towel with your right hand, forward and slightly upward. Hold this position for a few seconds, feeling a gentle stretch.
Return to the center and repeat 5-10 times, then switch to the other side.
Lateral Flexion Stretch to the Left
Instructions: As you bend to the left, pull the right end of the towel, with your right hand, slightly upward and forward to help guide side-bending movement.
Hold the stretch for a few seconds and repeat 5-10 times on each side.
Lateral Flexion Stretch to the Right
Instructions: As you bend to the right, pull the left end of the towel, with your left hand, slightly upward and forward to help guide side-bending movement.
Hold the stretch for a few seconds and repeat 5-10 times on each side.
